This disharmonious feast is perhaps less overtly "black metal" than those albums, with guitars moving in mutoid, mid-paced procession even if the drums are blasting the fuck away. The percussion is really quite fantastic, and often the only thing to hold onto as you're drawn into the caliginous whirlpool. Throughout the album, panned voices cackle and laugh behind the stereo field. Is it enjoyable to feel your sanity erode in paranoid suspicion? Yes.
