Délirant - Thoughteater

I am drawn irresistibly to music that evokes "evil", quite often to the detriment of my ears and sanity.  Malevolent intentions rarely bear pleasurable fruit.  Délirant do achieve a delicious, iniquitous feat by following the path of Vindsval.  A venomous snake is set loose to slither across the guitar neck, with wriggling riffs drenched in radiation more than distortion. Demented dissonance flows in disjointed jolts of kinetic flux.  It's entirely possible for such exploits to produce nonsense, but like Blut Aus Nord's The Work Which Transforms God or 777 – Sect(s), the result is somehow mesmeric.  This disharmonious feast is perhaps less overtly "black metal" than those albums, with guitars moving in mutoid, mid-paced procession even if the drums are blasting the fuck away.  The percussion is really quite fantastic, and often the only thing to hold onto as you're drawn into the caliginous whirlpool.  Throughout the album, panned voices cackle and laugh behind the stereo field. Is it enjoyable to feel your sanity erode in paranoid suspicion?  Yes.
